Meet Jon:

An artist for the ages, solo guitarist Jonathan Firey creates musical stylings that are complex, soulful and textured, layering together a sound that can be characterized across multiple genres. Sometimes described as Bluegrass, Folk or Country, Jonathan’s music is a blend of styles steeped deeply in a history that began during his childhood in Oklahoma.

Summer afternoons dusting guitars in his family’s music store and falling asleep on the church pew to the sounds of his Dad’s Bluegrass band, stitched together the foundation of Jonathan Firey as a musician whose solo guitar and acoustic style can be described in its own category as a transportive soundtrack for life.

With musical influences that span the greats, Firey’s childhood was touched by the genius of guitarists like James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. Music was always playing on the car radio, or at home, where in-depth discussion around a song bridge or guitar riff was normal conversation.

After high school, a basketball scholarship called to Firey, but Nashville and the pursuit of music called louder. And while there are countless stories of struggle to break into the Nashville music scene, Firey’s is not one of them. Hard work and good fortune quickly opened the door to studio and session work, and resulted in a massive catalogue of over 170 acoustic songs compiled into commercial albums for retail giants Target, Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Lifeway, setting the mood in stores for every holiday and occasion imaginable.

While building his catalogue of commercial albums, Firey’s career was also taking off as a performance artist which resulted in multiple appearances on national television and radio shows, and playing gigs at the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium and Blue Bird Café with bands Far from Home, The Henningsens, Junior Brown and Grammy winning Phil Keaggy. In 2018, Firey won Gospel Musical Association’s “Instrumental Album of the Year” in Canada.
